It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, William Wayne “Bill" Alward, on July 20, 2026, at the age of 63. Bill passed away surrounded by his loving family. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Don and Marilyn Townsend Alward. A longtime resident of Taylor, Bill worked as a certified forklift operator and a truck driver before becoming ill. He also had a successful painting business where he restored beautiful Victorian homes. His creativity was limitless. Bill’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. He poured boundless love into being a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Bill had a passion for finding beauty in forgotten things, spending weekends hunting for unique treasures at local garage sales and collecting antiques. He loved gardening, meticulously tending to his hydrangeas. His home was always adorned with beautiful hanging baskets. In recent years, Bill faced escalating health challenges. A person of immense resilience, he fought a courageous battle and his incredible spirit never wavered. He remained a beacon of strength and dignity until the very end. Bill's family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his dedicated podiatrist, Dr. Brian Kobylus. His unwavering kindness, genuine empathy, and tireless efforts provided Bill and his family a vital sanctuary of comfort and dignity during his final days. Bill was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, George and Mary Alward; and his eldest sister, Janis Cannon. Bill is survived by brothers Donald, James, and Jerome; and sisters Susan Stempien (Donald), Bonnie Cawley (Larry), JoAnn Schick (Arnold), and Dori Kearney, along with nieces, nephews, and friends. A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later. Arrangements by the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann's Street, Scranton, PA.
