William MacDonald June 26, 2022 William MacDonald, 67, of Scranton, died Sunday at Allied Services Hospice after a hard fought battle with ALS. Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lori Durkin MacDonald. Born in Scranton, son of the late Neil and Gladys Grogan MacDonald, Bill was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Scranton, and a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School. He attended Keystone College, East Stroudsburg University and Marywood University, where he earned his master’s degree in psychology. Bill was employed by One Point Inc., where he specialized in office supply sales. He took great pride in servicing his customers, and providing them with the best services and solutions. If you knew Billy you knew he was a true gentleman, man of knowledge and possessed a great Irish wit. He was a beloved husband, a loving and supportive father, a caring brother, and a great friend to many. He is survived by one daughter, Molly MacDonald; one sister, Jeanne and Ed Wirth; one brother, Michael and Patty MacDonald; sisters-in-law, Joan MacDonald, Norie MacDonald; Jayne Tigue and husband, Thomas; brother-in-law, Martin Durkin and wife, Donna; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Neil J. MacDonald; and sister-in-law, Dorothy MacDonald. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Allied Services Hospice for the special care given to Bill, especially Kelly Langan, Nicole, and Dan who are true “angels of God.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504. Anyone attending the Mass should go directly to the church. Interment, private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may pay their respects Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann’s St., Scranton, PA 18504. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Allied Services Hospice Center.
