Victor L. Cognetti

Victor L. Cognetti, 71, of Scranton, died Tuesday at home. He was the widow of Ann Marie Hill, who died March 29, 2001, and Honour “Nori” King, who died Sept. 4, 2012.Born in Scranton, son of the late Frank and Mary Grace Paradise Cognetti, he was a member of St. Paul’s Church and a 1961 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Before retirement, he was employed as a machinist at Acker Drill Co. Victor was a kind and giving man who will be deeply missed by friends and family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a pet therapy volunteer at local nursing homes. He enjoyed watching westerns, late nights by the fire with his homemade wine, and his casino dates with Rose. He was a skilled mechanic and a jack of all trades, always lending a hand to friends in need.Surviving are two sons, Victor L. Cognetti Jr., Scranton; and Tim Cognetti and companion, Gina Laudone, Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Victor L. Cognetti III and wife, Stacy; Justin Cognetti and wife, Jenna; and Vincent Cognetti and wife, Heidi; a great granddaughter, Alayna Cognetti; and a brother, John Cognetti.He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Bruno, Frank, Tony, Russell and Joe; and six sisters, Rosie, Mary, Frances, Jenny, Antoinette, and Tessie.The funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Paul’s Church, Penn Avenue. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.Friends may call Friday, 4 to 7 p.m
