
Veronica Jean Stivala, 57, of Jefferson Township, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 21, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in West Scranton and a graduate of West Scranton High School, she was the daughter of Jean Demarco and the late William Stivala. Veronica was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and partner. Family was of the utmost importance to her and she loved spending time with them. Listening to music and dancing around the kitchen or the house was something she could always be found doing. Veronica was also an avid animal lover and her dog, Nova and cat, Coby will miss her dearly.
Also surviving are her daughters, Kiana and Jillian Carter of Jefferson Township; partner of 26 years, Jimmie Carter of Jefferson Township and stepchildren; sisters, Lisa Stivala and Michele Stivala Parfitt of Mount Holly, North Carolina; brothers, Billy Stivala of Ransom Township, Kenny Stivala of Covington Township, Wayne Stivala of Scranton, and Eddie Stivala of Moscow; as well as brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Stivala; son, Tyler Jopchak; brother, David Stivala; as well as stepfather, Adrian Demarco.
The funeral will be Friday, December 27th at Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton at 11:00 AM, with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patricks Church, Jackson Street, Scranton at 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
