Sister Gertrude Grimes passed away on Aug. 28, 2020, at Regional Hospital in Scranton. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on Sept. 5, 1941. Trudy was the daughter of the late Francis and Gertrude Grimes (Rector). Sister Gertrude dedicated herself for 60 years to teaching and retreat work in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Sister Gertrude was a member of the Passionists Associates of Saint Ann’s. She will be remembered for her warm, caring and loving spirit to everyone. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Grimes, Carol Ryan, and Pat Valle and husband, Mike; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Basilica, 1250 St. Ann St., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements by the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Basilica.
