Ronald Paul Bielinski

Ronald Paul Bielinski, 85, passed away at home on July 24. His beloved wife of 59 years is Arlene Bielinski. Born in Scranton, son of the late Wallace and Sophie Bielinski from Dickson City, Ron was a graduate of Keystone Junior College and Pennsylvania State University. He was among a select group to earn a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering. Ron opened his architectural and engineering practice in 1969 and was also the City Engineer of Scranton for over nine years. His architectural designs include Dunmore Elementary School, SS. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Temple Israel, Lakeland School and the Polish National Union Church along with General Pulaski’s statue in the city’s courtyard. These are a testament of his esteemed career which lasted over 46 years until 2015. He was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation in Dickson City, Pa. Ron was an avid Penn State football fan. A season ticket holder for over 45 years, he and his wife hosted tailgating parties at their motorhome for more than 35 years. Even in retirement, Ron could be found in his office behind his drafting board playing solitaire with his glass of wine because “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” while recording the day’s activity in his black book. His passion for life, humor, smile and generosity touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten along with his “rpb” signature. Roar Lions Roar! He lived his favorite motto, “One should count each day a separate life.” Also surviving are a son, Ronald Bielinski Jr.; daughter, Kimberly Coar and husband, Brian; four grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa Bielinski, and Abigail and Zachary Coar; sister, Teresa Walsh Poole; and nieces, Lisa Walsh Angstadt and Tia Walsh. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Anthony; and infant son, Joseph. Due to the pandemic, a private viewing was held for immediate family. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Visitation at a later date. Arrangements by McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton.
