
Ronald J. Breithaupt, 93 of Taylor and formerly of Tannersville, died Tuesday, Oct 1 at Geisinger CMC.
Born in Philadelphia on September 4, 1932, he was the son of Albert and Emma Williams Breithaupt. He was a graduate of Northeast Catholic HS, served five years in the US Navy, and four years in the US Air Force.
He was employed for 27 years by the Dept. of the Army as an electronics instructor and taught all over the country until he moved to the Poconos in 1970 to permanently work at the Tobyhanna Army Depot where he ended his career in 1987.
In 2005 he moved to Tayor and joined the American Legion Post 306 where he spent time with many good friends and proudly served as Adjunct until his death. During his life, Ron enjoyed shooting pool, playing darts, watching cowboy movies, crossword puzzles, reading, and traveling. He was a life-long fan of the Eagles football team and attended his first game with his father at the age of five.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Helen Pineo Breithaupt, mother of his four children, his most recent wife Barbara Breithaupt, sons Ronald Jr. and Erik Breithaupt, as well as his two younger brothers Albert and Robert.
Ron is survived by his daughters Rhonda Brandolino and her husband Jim, Cresco; Diana Renna, Old Forge, grandchildren Ronald Breithaupt and his wife Tabitha, Staten Island, NY; Jacob Brandolino and his wife Stephanie, Minneapolis, MN; Katie Bower and her husband Corey, Bloomsburg; Jason Brandolino and his wife Jenna, Lake Hopatcong, NJ; Anthony and Michael
Renna, Old Forge; and great-grandsons Ben and Blake Bower. Also surviving are his sister, Margie DiAntonio and her husband Vincent, and Barbara Breithaupt, Philadelphia; as well as nieces and nephews.
A veteran service will be held Thursday at 5pm by American Legion 306 followed by the Pittston AMVETS in the Thomas J. Hughes FH Inc, 1240 St. Ann’s St., Scranton. Friends may call starting at 4pm.
