December 7, 1979 to January 16, 2023

Robert T. Cron Jr., 43, of Scranton, passed away Monday after an illness. Born in Scranton on Dec. 7, 1979, son of Robert and Mary Ann Cron, he was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory High School and Shippensburg University. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served in Iraq, he was employed by U.S. Penitentiary Canaan. Robert was a kind, loving and wonderful son who surrounded himself with a close knit of friends who were always there for one another. He enjoyed music, traveling, watching sports and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Surviving are his companion, Elizabeth Igneri; uncles and aunts, Maureen and Kevin Atkins, with whom he shared a special relationship; Jeannie and Howard Seymour, Roseanne and Frank Shaffer, Peter and Debbie Cron, Mary McHale, Joseph and Carol Cron, and George Cron. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Regina Cron; and maternal grandparents, Dolph and Nan Meenan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
