
Robert Nicholas, 86, of Dunmore, died Thursday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Nicholas.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Francis and Agatha Nicholas, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He was employed by General Dynamics, and after retirement was a caretaker for St. Mary's Church. Bob deeply loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was a proud, dignified and witty man who always had a kind word. He was an avid sports man and enjoyed dining at Cooper's with his wife.
Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Terry Dean and husband, Gerard; Darren Nicholas; Chris Nicholas and wife, Becky; Barry Nicholas and wife, Susan; and Cole Meehan; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Nicholas.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Alvin Nicholas and wife, Julie; and Barry Nicholas.
The family would like to thank Glenmaura Senior Living and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassion and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
