Robert Keegan Jr.

Robert Keegan Jr., 70, of Scranton, died Saturday at home surrounded by his family. His wife is Christine Grushinski Keegan. Born in Scranton, son of the late Robert and Doris Boyd Keegan, he attended Holy Rosary High school until it was closed, then graduated of South Catholic High School. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and Mary, Mother of God Parish. Robert served as a Scranton firefighter for over 20 years before his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many hours in the woods, and on the lakes and streams of Northeast Pa. He was also a fair golfer and organized several charity golf tournaments for the Scranton Fire Department. Also surviving are his children, Robert and his partner, Samantha Davis, Scranton; and Michael, at home; two sisters, Judy Hughes, Scranton; and Nancy Davis and her husband, Tom, Scranton; nephews, Tom Davis and Philip Hughes; nieces, Katie Prislupsky and Lynn Davies; in addition to many cousins in the city and throughout the country, especially John Boyd, who was like a brother to him. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Remick for many years he was his primary physician, the nurses from DaVita Dialysis, Scranton, and the nurses from Allied Hospice, especially Penny, Dan, Marie and Angela for the wonderful care they provided. Also, Dr. Lisa Thomas and PA Nicole Francis at Hematology and Oncology in Dunmore for all their help through this journey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home on Birney Avenue in Scranton. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mary, Mother God Parish for the needed repairs on St. Mary's Hall would be appreciated. The hall is a special place for Bob, as Bob and Chris celebrated their wedding there and he spent many happy times playing and coaching basketball, organizing tournaments in his youth.
