Richard Robert Wisniewksi, a lifelong Scranton resident passed peacefully at home on October 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife of 41 years, Ellen Siewell Wisniewski and family. Richard was the son of the late Felicia and Walter Wisniewski. A graduate of South Catholic High School, Richard was an employee of Owens-Illinois/Techneglas, retiring after 35 years. He was a man of deep faith, a devout Catholic and member of Divine Mercy Parish Scranton, Pa. Richard a caring, gentle soul blessed with quick wit and steady humor easily lit up a room. An avid gardener, excellent cook, he treasured hosting festive gatherings sharing a warm welcome to his home. Always inspired by the beauty of nature, especially bird watching, Richard provided a safe harbor, feeding the varied birds that visited his yard. A man of many skills and talents, he frequently offered a helping hand wherever needed. Richard and Ellen were inseparable, forever companions, their deep respect, admiration and connection were evident, beyond measure. Particularly memorable were their joined excitement in traveling to Las Vegas, NV and celebrating Independence Day with epic firework displays. Richard is survived by his sister Helen Marx, his brother Walter Wisniewski, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Parish 312 Davis Street Scranton, Pa. 18505 or a charity of the donor’s preference. Arrangements are entrusted to Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home 2908 Birney Avenue Scranton, PA. 18505 with visitation Tuesday October 7, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Pastor, Rev. Paul A. McDonnell and Rev. Steven Roth, cousin of the deceased, at Divine Mercy Parish on Wednesday October 8, 2025 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Cemetery, Greenwood Avenue, Moosic.
