
Richard A. (Rick) Peters, 71, of
Glenburn,passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Rick was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Peters. He was blessed to share 47 years of love and companionship with his high school sweetheart,
Alice (Ali) Spangler Peters. Together, they built a life filled with memories, laughter, and deep affection.
Rick is survived by his children: Elizabeth Anthony and husband, Jay, of Colleyville, TX; Sara Martin and husband Chris, of Plano. TX: and Richard Jr. (Ricky) and wife Lauren, of South Abington Township. His favorite and best role in life was that of a proud and adoring grandfather to five beautiful grandchildren: Lucy, Nathan, Vivien, Cashmere, and Sevyn. He is also survived by his three brothers, Dr. John Peters and wife Debra, of Lake Winola, PA, Mark Peters of Lake Winola, PA, and William Peters of Clarks Summit, PA, and his sister, Maryla Scranton and husband Bill, of North Abington Township, PA. He loved his brothers and sisters-in-law and was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A 1972 graduate of Dunmore High School, Rick continued his education at Pennsylvania State University, where he earned an Associates Degree in Engineering.
A natural entrepreneur, Rick started several successful companies, including RAPCO, East Coast Inspections, Eastern Construction and Investments, and Peters Construction Services. He was the first to bring the home inspection process to the area, built countless homes and commercial buildings throughout Lackawanna County, and remodeled many hotels along the east coast, from New York to Florida.
In retirement, he was a volunteer for Allied Hospice and Court Appointed Special Advocate for the Pennsylvania foster care system.
Rick had a passion for life, and his summers at Lake Winola were among his most cherished memories. He loved being surrounded by close friends and family, often spending hours on his porch overlooking the lake, or enjoying evening pontoon boat rides. He also enjoyed golf and traveling the country with Ali.
Rick was known for his ability to connect with people . A gifted orator with a sharp sense of humor, he had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel special. He had many lifelong and new friends which he cherished. Whether through a heartfelt story or a well-timed joke, Rick's laughter was infectious, and he brightened the lives of all who knew him.
Rick's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30am in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore. Inurnment, Parish Cemetery.
