Paul “Paolo” Morelli

 

Paul “Paolo” Morelli, died Saturday at home. Born 8/27/1940 in Villa Coldei Canali, Perugia Italy, he was the only son of Livia Pellegrini Morelli and Claudio Morelli. Paul emigrated to America in 1953 on the Andrea Doria from Naples to New York. He moved to Jessup and attended school there until he left at age 14 to work at Lucci’s Bakery. He later worked as a baker at Mineo’s Pies, Williams Bakery, and Krispy Kreme. For several years he owned The Golden Donut in West Scranton. He served in the US Army as a cook from 1961- 63. Paul loved practical jokes, dancing, making a good deal, bowling, playing pool, karaoke, cooking, game shows, and Sudoku. He enjoyed cooking for others, especially making gnocchi and polenta on the board. He was kind, funny and forgiving. He is survived by his identical twin daughters, Lindy Morelli, Scranton; and Livia Morelli Gallo ( James), Dunmore; grandchildren, Caroline Smith (Connor), Louis Gallo ( Gillian ), and great-grandchildren, Nico, Luca, and Jamie Smith. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm in the Thomas J Hughes Funeral Home Inc, St Ann Street, Scranton with special prayers for the repose of his soul. In memory of Paul, go have some pizza and sing "That's Amore" at karaoke
