Nicole "Nicki" Suchter

Nicole “Nicki” Melissa Suchter, 44, passed away at home Monday due to complications with pneumonia. She was born in Scranton, Pa., on Dec. 9, 1976, to Frances Ford Suchter, owner of Confetti Hair Studio, and Emil J. Suchter. Nicki attended McNichols Plaza, Nativity of Our Lord School, and Bishop Hannan High School, where she received highest honors in academics. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Scranton. As a teenager, she modeled in New York City and Philadelphia under both Ford Modeling Agency and Elite Model Management. She began her sales career in Philadelphia and returned home when her grandmother, Nellie Ford, got sick, whom she adored. She was also co-owner of Ty’s Bar, in Greenwich Village, New York City. Nicki was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Nellie Mazzarella Ford and Edward Ford; and her uncle Edward J. Ford, whose death she never quite got over; as well as her paternal grandparents, Emil and Florence Suchter, who owned Suchter’s Catering Hall. She is survived by her sister, Jessica Suchter, Nashville, Tenn.; her mother, Frances Suchter and Jack Lyons; her father, Emil J. Suchter and wife, Andrea; her uncle, Mark Suchter and wife, Linda; cousin, Dr. Mark F. Suchter, M.D., wife, Krista, and children; cousin, Lori Sayegh, husband, Greg, and children; and extended cousins, family and friends, whom she loved dearly. Nicki was a special girl, beautiful inside and out, who had a heart larger than life. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Mario, and always rescued any she’d encounter in danger or need of a home. She was a big advocate of Griffin Pond Animal Shelter. Nicki was a free spirit, who loved having fun and enjoyed the outdoors and camping, four-wheeling, skiing and snowboarding, swimming, karaoke and cooking. Her specialties were homemade bread and pizza and her famous quiches. She treasured this past summer spent in her camper at the Honesdale KOA, where she met great friends that she was very fond of and was looking forward to the upcoming season. She loved entertaining others and left a lasting impression and special memories with both family and friends, including her best friend, John Brazil. She always lived life to the fullest, as told by the many stories by those that knew her. Nicki was also a deeply spiritual person, caring for the elderly, animals or homeless, as well as raising funds for charities or a special cause. Her desire to make other people smile or laugh was one of her special traits. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Now, she’s bringing the party to Heaven. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Basilica. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Donations can be made directly online: https://www.gofundme.com/nicole-suchter, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter or to your charity of choice in her honor.
