
Nancy T. Cawley, Scranton, died peacefully on Monday, November 3, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Thomas A. Cawley, Sr., a son Thomas Cawley, and a granddaughter, Margaret Eleanor Cawley.
Born in Scranton on October 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Eleanor Reese. She was a graduate of Saint Ann’s High School and Marywood University. She was a former board member of Pennsylvanians for Human Life, a member of the Purple Club of the University of Scranton, and a member of St. Ann’s Basilica.
Nancy, a woman of deep generosity and unwavering faith, has left behind a legacy rooted in love and devotion. Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. Nancy’s spiritual strength and compassion touched many, and she lovingly passed on her gift of faith to her sons and grandchildren, nurturing their hearts with the same grace and conviction that defined her own journey. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the lives she shaped and the faith she so beautifully shared.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to all the personal care givers for the thoughtfulness, sensitivity, and loving care they extended to Nancy during the last years of her life.
Surviving are seven sons, Dr. Thomas A. Jr. and wife, Mary Jude, Ashburn, VA; Dr. Patrick J. and wife, Dr. Pamela, Dewees Island, SC; Christopher J. and wife, Katie, Jefferson Township; Terence B. and wife, Maria, Dublin PA; Dennis P. and wife, Adriana, Cedar Rapids, IA; James H. and wife, Shannon, Moscow; and Dr. Peter J. and wife, Tatiana, Moosic; 17 grandchildren, Thomas III, Mary Kate, Joseph, Michael, Isabela, Daniela, Jacob, Samuel, Jonathan, Dennis Jr., Andrew, Ana Maria, Daniel, James Jr., Patrick, Maeve, and Elin Cawley. Nancy is also survived by a brother, Harold J. (Jim) and wife, Constance Reese, Pompano Beach, FL.
The funeral will be Saturday, November 15, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Basilica, St. Ann’s Street. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends Friday 6-8 p.m., at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann’s St.
