Mildred Zvonchenko, 95, Hudson, Fla., formerly of Scranton, died Saturday at RMC Bayonet Point. She was the widow of Sergius Zvonchenko, who died July 1, 1988. At that time, they were married 40 years on June 12. Born in Taylor, on Nov. 13, 1923, daughter of the late Amelia Golka Griscavage, she resided in Taylor and New Jersey most of her life until relocating to Florida. She was a member of St. Ann’s Basilica, its Women’s Society and Confraternity of the Passion and 1942 graduate of Taylor High School, where she served on several class reunion committees. Before retirement, she was employed at Marian Convent, Marywood College and, before that, General Motors in Trenton, N.J., and Haddon Craftsman in Scranton. Mildred served as past president of Taylor Little League Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the South Side and Green Ridge bowling leagues. In November, Mildred celebrated her 95th birthday with a large family gathering. She was the life of the party. Surviving are a daughter, Marie Z. Bienkowski and husband, Donald, Crystal River, Fla.; a son, Robert Zvonchenko and wife, Barbara, Hudson, Fla.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Bart Griscavage. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Helen Hudzina; and many loved family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16 in St. Ann’s Basilica. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc, 1240 St. Ann’s St., Scranton.
