Michele Rose Mattioli-Kulick

November 21, 1955 to December 30, 2023

Michele Rose Mattioli-Kulick (68), born on Nov. 21, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, co-owner of Pocono Raceway, daughter of the late Drs. Joseph and Rose Mattioli, passed away peacefully at her home in Bear Creek Twp. surrounded by her family and friends Saturday evening. Born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, Michele attended Rawnhurst Elementary, Northeast High School and Drexel University. After graduating from Drexel, Michele began working as a beauty instructor at Barbizon Academy in Philadelphia. She then traveled with Clinique and Lancome before moving to northeast Pennsylvania to start the next chapter of her life. Michele's love for Philadelphia and the friends, family and memories she made there never ceased. Michele began her family on Old Mill Road in Laflin, Pennsylvania. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, and later joined St. Therese's Church in Shavertown. Michele was a devout Catholic who inspired faith, grace, love and hope in her children, friends and family. Michele raised her children, Michael (27) and Elizabeth (26). Those who knew her understood that Michele lived for her children and loved them unconditionally, just as she unconditionally loved her friends, family and neighbors. Michele was never short of a compliment, nor hesitant to share her warmth with anyone she met. She touched countless lives every day with her love and kindness. Michele was a humble woman who never spoke of her charity to others, though she frequently and without hesitation donated to numerous charities and clinics. Those who knew Michele will attest to her patience, strength, humility, compassion and the love she showed to everyone she met. In the face of adversity, Michele leaned on her family, friends and loved ones for support, but always trusted that God would protect her. Michele is survived by her two children, Michael and Elizabeth; as well as her siblings, Looie Mattioli, Joseph Mattioli III and their families. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment will be private. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton.
