
Michael P. Barnauskas, 79 of Dickson City, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at Geisinger CMC. Born in Scranton, son of the late Julius and Helen Zarzecki Barnauskas. He was a carpenter by trade, a published poetry author, philanthropist, and a member of Cathedral of St. Peter. Michael volunteered to join the Navy and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country with honor and dedication. He is survived by one brother, Richard Barnauskas and wife Donna of Hatfield, PA, sister-in-law Carole Barnauskas of Dickson City, PA and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friends and caregivers, Greta Luong and Marquis Phelps. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Joseph and Julius Barnauskas Jr. as well as three sisters, Marie and Eileen Barnauskas and Karen Slachta Fuller. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated August 17, 2026, at 9:30 at Cathedral of St. Peter, 333 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton, PA. Inurnment Cathedral Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a charity of your choice as Michael was a generous supporter of many charitable causes.
