Michael Caufield, 58, died Friday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart inpatient unit peacefully. Born in 1964, Mike grew up in New Jersey before calling Scranton, Pa. his home for 25 years. He was an avid N.Y. Mets and N.Y. Giants fan and enjoyed watching games with his family. He enjoyed playing Mario Party 4 with his family. He had an infectious laugh and was welcoming to all. He had a special affection for his dog Droopy who is waiting on the rainbow bridge to welcome him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Kathleen; and his stepson, Matthew Santamouris. Surviving are his children, Michael, Christopher, Nicole; Erica and her partner, Nigel Jefferson; Jack and his wife, Shannon Caufield; a grandson, Gabriel Antal; granddogs, Belle and Dobby Caufield; and grandcat, Kung Pow Jefferson. Mike also leaves behind a great friend, Lynn O’Mara, who remained taking care of him in his final days. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Hughes Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion. Arrangements will be private at the family’s convenience.
