Michael C. Granville

 

Michael C. Granville 74, of Jefferson Township passed away peacefully Wednesday Oct. 7th at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Scranton, Pa.after a brief illness, he was surrounded by loved ones. He was the devoted and loving husband of 49 years to Mary Ellen Petraitis Granville. He was the son of the late Clare and Clarence Granville. He was a 1970 Graduate of Bishop Hannan High School and 1974 Graduate of the University of Scranton with a degree in Chemistry. He had also attended Penn State University. Prior to his retirement he held many positions over the years. School Teacher, Commodities Broker, Credit Card Fraud Analyst with Bank of America. He was a 33rd Degree Master Mason. Within the family Michael was known as the prince of pinocle. His hobbies were Stamp collecting, cooking, reading and most of all travel. He loved softball, football both in playing and watching. He was an avid Penn State Fan. He was also one of the first football players for the U of S. Surviving is his brother Stephen, Scranton, and sister Julia Granville Miller husband Frederick, Scranton. Nephew James Miller, and wife Emily Oklahoma, Niece, Elizabeth Miller (God-Daughter) Scranton. Niece, Elysia Granville Zitzleman and husband Allen, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Clare and Alexander Nemetz, and paternal grandparents Margaret and Clarence Granville Sr. Also precede in death by his brothers David and Joseph, along with his niece Lauren Miller Demeck. A private funeral will be held at the convenienceof the family. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart 30 Ed Preate Drive Moosic Pa 18505.
