It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we share the passing of Maura Erin Judge. She passed from this earthly dwelling on July 5, 2026. Maura was 39 years old. She was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, Class of 2005 and attended West Chester University.
While our hearts are heavy with the loss of Maura, we take comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace and free from the relentless struggle of addiction that haunted her for most of her adult life.
To those who knew Maura, she will be remembered for a brilliant smile, her crazy sense of humor and fierce love for family. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. Maura possessed a beautiful spirit that dimmed during dark times but shone brightly during her happiest moments.
Though this illness took so much from her and our family, we want Maura to be remembered for the vibrant, loving person that she truly was inside not just for the disease that took her life.
Maura leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted parents Jack and Maureen (Owens) Judge, her brother Matt and sister-in-law Meg Judge, her adored niece Charlotte and nephew Jack Judge, uncles and aunts, Michael and Marcy Judge, Lois Judge Beseda, Dan and Judy Owens, Terry and Cindy Owens, Tom and Lisa Owens, Pat and Jennifer Owens as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Maura was preceded in death by her grandparents Lee and Helen Owens, Bill and Lois Judge and her uncle Billy Judge.
We share our story in hope that it will help break the stigma surrounding drug addiction and perhaps encourage others still in the fight to seek the help they need without shame or guilt.
Visitation will be Friday, July 10th in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann’s Street, Scranton from 4-6pm. A mass of Christian burial will be concelebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler and Father Richard E. Fox on Saturday, July 11th at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street, Scranton, PA. If attending the mass, please go directly to the church. Interment Cathedral Cemetery.
