Mary Wright

It's with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Wright, 88, of Clarks Summit. Daughter of the late Raymond and Sara Minihan, and wife of the late John Wright, she was born and raised in Scranton. A graduate of St. Ann's School, she was known for her lovely singing voice and was invited to sing on local radio stations. An avid reader, Mary had an innate ability to pick the winner of a horse race, but most of all was known for her delicious meals that many were fortunate to experience. Surviving are a son, John R. and wife, Rosemary, Orlando Fl; daughter, Grace, Clarks Summit; son, Robert and wife, Kathleen, Greensboro NC; daughter-in-law, Sandy, Old Forge; grandchildren, Angela, Kelly and Sean; great-grandchildren, Christian (C.J.), Addison and Nina, whom she was known as Gigi; and a niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian; sister, Jane Ann Rooney; and cousin, Ellen Madzin. The family would like to thank Dr. James Scheere and staff along with Allied Services Home Hospice, as well as her neighbor, Frank Yanul, for their care and compassion during her brief illness. Dearest Mother thou has left us, on this Earth no more to see; And some day in heaven we'll meet you, where we'll never part from thee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10am in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Sunday from 1-4pm at the Thomas J Hughes Funeral Home Inc, 1240 St. ann St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Ann's Basilica or Clarks Summit Fire Co #1
