Mary Kay Aniska, formerly Mary Catherine Ann McHale, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world peacefully from her home Dec. 31, 2021, at the age of 65.
Born to the late Patrick and Catherine McHale on Dec. 17, 1956, she was the eldest of five children. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Mary Kay studied in New York City to become an electrologist. Before becoming a full-time mother, she owned and operated her own beauty salon for more than 25 years. She touched many people’s lives in her time as a cosmetologist and as a news and medical courier.
Mary Kay was an avid gardener and took great pride in her flower displays at her home on Main Avenue. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her granddaughter.
As a mother to five children, she exemplified the definition of patience. Her giving nature and selflessness helped define who she was. Mary Kay always had a smile on and her lessons in kindness and humility are reflected in her children. With her husband, they taught their children the lessons of hard work and honesty.
Surviving is her loving husband, Ronald, who cared for her up until her passing. She also leaves behind five loving children: son, Ron and wife, Kristina, along with grandchildren, Cassidy, Santino and Krystianna, Scranton; daughter Allison, Hanover Twp.; sons, Stephen, currently stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., Michael, Lancaster, and Matthew, Laflin. She also leaves behind her brother, Patrick and wife, Tara McHale, along with children, Samantha, Molly, Annie and Patrick Jr., Clarks Summit; sister, Margaret and husband, EJ Dougher, along with their two daughters, McCae and Olivia, Scranton; brother, Paul and wife, Mary McHale, along with son, Jonathan, Scranton; and brother, Timothy and wife, Stacey McHale, along with sons, Sawyer and Finley, also of Scranton.
She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Special thanks to the staff at InterimCare and Compassionate Care Hospice Associates for their loving time and attention.
