Mary Ellen K. Meredick, 82, of Scranton, died Wednesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Donald Meredick, who died in 1999.Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Jerome and Cecelia Kelly, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School, and a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church. Before retirement, she was employed by Bell Telephone, PNC Bank and FNCB Bank.She was an avid reader, and member of Roundwoods Senior Citizens and Compassionate Friends. Mary Ellen enjoyed listening to music, especially Rod Stewart and Hank Williams. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.Surviving are two daughters, Michele Haggerty and husband, John, Scranton; Lori Pawluck and husband, Tony, Greenfield Twp.; a son, Donald, Spring Brook Twp.; five grandchildren, Courtney Meredick, Anthony and Leah Pawluck, Daniel Haggerty and Bryann Brown; two great-grandchildren, Jadelynn and Cali Lockwood; a sister-in-law, Betty Meredick; a brother-in-law, Jerome Meredick and wife, Carol; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark; a sister, Nancy Kelly Davitt; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Meredick and Joe Meredick and wife, Maryann.Mary Ellen’s Family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Geisinger Community Medical Center doctors, nurses and staff in the trauma unit and the intensive care unit.The funeral will be Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann’s St., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in SS. Peter & Paul Church. Interment, Parish Cemetery, Taylor. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross High School Tuition Assistance Program, 501 E.
