Mary Ann Tate

 

Mary Ann Tate, 80, of the Minooka section of Scranton, died Wednesday at Allied Services Hospice. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Cyril and Mary Horan Jeffers, she was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School and a lifelong member of Divine Mercy Parish. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Social Security Administration and the Railroad Retirement Board. Maryann was a loving, caring and charitable woman who volunteered countless hours at Mercy Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with and doting on her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Surviving are her son, Thomas Tate and companion, Margarita Quinn, New Jersey; three brothers, Daniel Jeffers; James Jeffers and wife, Shirley; and John Jeffers and wife, Janet; two sisters, Sister Janet Jeffers; and Rosemary MacDonald and husband, Donald; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Jeffers; and nephew, Michael Jeffers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish by Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Davis Street. Friends may call Friday, June 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home, 2908 Birney Ave., Scranton.
