Mark Whalen Capozzi

Mark Whalen Capozzi, 67, passed away on June 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 27, 1958, Mark lived a life defined by devotion to his family and a passion for the things he loved. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. Mark was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dick and Dorothy Capozzi. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Maureen Slowey Capozzi; his loving daughter, Mara Kearney and husband Jason; his adoring sons, Kyle and Alex Capozzi; his cherished grandchildren, Aylah, Avery, and Mason, who brought him immense joy and pride; his sister, Elizabeth Capozzi Healey; Brothers, Peter Capozzi and wife Christine, Christopher Capozzi and wife Nikole, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Mark had a lifelong love for cars and motorcycles. Whether he was behind the wheel, out for a ride, or simply admiring a beautiful machine, he found happiness in the freedom and excitement they brought. In later years, Mark often preferred the comfort of solitude, those who knew him best understood that his love for his family ran deep. He loved and cared deeply and was always there when it mattered most. Mark was a husband, a father, and an adoring grandfather. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren. Being their caretaker, sharing in their daily lives, and watching them grow was one of the greatest joys and privileges of his life. He treasured every moment with Aylah, Avery, and Mason, and the love they shared was evident to everyone around them. His unwavering love and quiet strength will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy we take comfort in knowing that Mark’s legacy lives on through his family. The memories we have will forever remain in our hearts. He will be missed, forever loved, and remembered. Per Mark’s request services were private. Arrangements entrusted to McGoff- Hughes Funeral Home, 1401 Capouse Ave.

I will always remember Mark fondly from our days working at Moses Taylor Hospital. Every moment in his presence induced side-splitting laughter. He was one of a kind, and a good friend.
