Lynn Susan Evans, 72, of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 2, 2024 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Lynn was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, stepmother, stepgrandmother, colleague, and friend.
Lynn was born on September 15, 1951 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late William and Shirley Zenker Evans. Her parents quickly discovered that when Lynn set her mind to something, she would excel in it. Lynn attained top marks at Scranton Central High School, and she graduated Cedar Crest College with honors in French. While she loved the language (friends might recall Lynn reminding them, “noblesse oblige”), Lynn ultimately developed a successful career in finance. It was of little concern to Lynn that men dominated the financial industry when she entered it: She quickly ascended the ranks, becoming the President and CEO of Northeastern Financial Consultants, Inc.
Known for her confidence and resolve, Lynn proudly trailblazed for women. She primarily used her skills to help baby boomer women achieve financial freedom. She founded Women of Substance, LLC, a business that helped women, as Lynn put it, “leave a legacy we can be proud of.” She authored “Power of the Purse: Fear-Free Finances for Baby Boomer Women,” a book that guided countless women through financial difficulties. Lynn also hosted the finance-focused “Power of the Purse Podcast” and “The Laurie and Lynn Show” on WILK News Radio. It was not just financial help that Lynn provided for women: She was the “Founding Mother” and former Board President of the Lackawanna County Women’s Resource Center, an organization devoted to assisting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Women in Northeast Pennsylvania and beyond are forever grateful for Lynn’s steady counsel and support.
Lynn resided in various Pennsylvania towns throughout her life, but she found her true home at Lake Wallenpaupack. Lynn enjoyed nothing more than a day at the lake with her family, friends, cats, and a good crossword puzzle. She welcomed all visitors at her humble lakeside home, and never hesitated to take them for a boat ride on the trusty Queen Anne’s Revenge. Thanks to Lynn’s generosity, her loved ones cherish warm memories of beautiful summer days and cozy Thanksgivings spent at the lake.
Lynn is survived by her devoted husband of 24 years, Patrick DiNapoli; her sister, Diane Evans Gilbert (David); her brother, William Evans (Trudy); her stepson, Tyler DiNapoli (Jessica); three nieces, one nephew, four grandnieces, one grandnephew, one step-granddaughter; and her beloved cat, Calvin. They, along with Lynn’s many other friends and colleagues, will miss her dearly.
Those wishing to honor Lynn’s life and legacy are invited to a memorial celebration at the Tripp House at 1011 North Main Ave, Scranton, Pennsylvania from 1 to 3 PM on Sunday, September 15 (Lynn’s 73rd birthday). In lieu of flowers, Lynn requested memorial contributions to the Women’s Resource Center of Lackawanna County, to Cedar Crest College, or to The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, from which Lynn rescued several cats, in Abington, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements by Davies and Jones Funeral Chapel, 1401 Capouse Ave, Scranton, PA.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Lynn lots of years ago and she was a wonderful role model for all us professional women. A trailblazer, indeed.

With love and admiration. Jusqu'à ce que nous nous retrouvions. Au revoir. Tu vas me manquer. Lynn could be in a group of women of every age, background, profession-it didn’t matter, she could naturally find commonality among them all. She was professional, funny with just a dash of sass. She is a paragon for women in business and promoted confidence and success. I am lucky and honored to have been a friend. I, and the world, are a lost without her.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I had the pleasure of being acquainted with Lynn through working for Dr. Scheland in the same office building. She was such a joy to have a conversation with. May she rest in peace.
