Leona L. Sciartilli, South Abington Twp., passed away Nov. 13, 2023, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard M. Sciartilli Sr. Leona was born in Scranton but after Richard retired, the couple resided in both Scranton and Henderson, Nevada. Leona graduated from West Scranton High School and was a member of St. Ann's Basilica. Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and sister. Leona was a stay-at-home mother, her pride and joy was taking care of her family. Leona took care of everyone, never asking for anything in return. In addition to taking care of her family, Leona loved to cook, shop at Boscov's and go to the casino. Leona was devoted to her Catholic faith; she prayed to the Blessed Mother and St. Ann, everyday. Leona attended the Monday Novena and yearly Novena to St. Ann. Leona is survived by her daughter, Mary Sciartilli, with whom she resided; her son, Richard Sciartilli; granddaughters, Davina and Marressa Sciartilli; grandson, Giovanni Sciartilli; great-grandson, Silvio Sciartilli. Leona is also survived by her furry daughter, Tina; and furry granddaughter, Sophie, whom she adored. In addition to her husband, Leona was preceded in death by her mother, Bernadine Lowe, her sister, Ernestine Davitt, and her brother, Shawn Lowe. The family would like to thank all family and friends for their prayers during Leona's illness, especially, Marty Castaldi for his thoughtfulness and support while Leona was hospitalized. Marty went to the hospital to pray with her, which meant so much. At the request of Leona, services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas J. Hughes Home.
