Lee F. Robeson

Lee F. Robeson, 86, of Scranton, died Tuesday at Regional Hospital. His wife is the former Alice M. McCrone. The couple would have celebrated 62 years on Feb 26., 2017.Born in Scranton, son of the late Leon and Ruth Stevens Robeson, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1947. He was a member of the former Simpson UMC and presently a member of Court Street United Methodist Church where he served as assistant treasurer, and board member on many committees. Lee was very active with the Boy Scouts of America at Simpson United Methodist Church and for many years helped with the United Methodist Mens Communion Breakfast. He served as Master of Ceremonies for many banquets and church functions, helped with Meals on Wheels, served on the board of directors for United Methodist Homes, and was a member of the West Scranton Church golf and bowling leagues, as well as a member of the Saints and Aints Square Dancing Club. Before retirement, he was employed by Highland Tank & Manufacturing, and Master Water Conditioning Company. He served his country with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at their summer house on Lake Ariel where he enjoyed nature and feeding the birds and chipmunks. Lee was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He set a great example for his children, had a wonderful sense of humor, and will be missed by all who knew him. Also surviving are two sons, David and wife Peggy, Jermyn; and Paul L. and wife Tammy, Lake Ariel; a daughter, Tami Holman and husband Jay, Taylor; a daughter-in-law, Linda Robeson, Scranton; 8 grandchildren, Christy Robeson and companion Jason Kalaus, Ryan Robeson, Trevor Robeson and fiancé Bree Hazen, Tara Robeson, Casey and Jason Holman, Kelly Williams and husband Ryan, and Michael Rafter; 3 great-grandchildren, Connor Kalaus, Caitlyn and Chase Williams; a brother, Paul Robeson and wife Carol, Redding CA; a sister, Carol Richards and husband David, Lexington NC; nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by a son, James L. RobesonThe family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Regional Hospital for the kindness shown to Lee and his family. As a family, we could not ask for anything more from them.The funeral will be Saturday at 10am in Court St. United Methodist Church with services by Rev. Doug Posegate, pastor. Interment with full military honors, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-8pm in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, Inc.1240 St. Ann Street, Scranton or Saturday from 9-10am at the Church.Memorial contributions can be made to Court St. United Methodist Church or to the donors favorite charity
