Leah Ann Jimmie, 44, of Duryea left us too soon on February 19, 2026 at Allied Hospice. Leah was born March 4, 1981 and spent her short life showing everyone that being "different" did not mean "less". Leah was not defined by her challenges but by her devotion to those she loved. She was a cherished member of our family and found happiness in simple things like watching The Golden Girls, talking on the phone with her numerous friends and family gatherings. Leah leaves behind a trail of beautiful memories.
She loved her time spent at Advocacy Alliance, bowling with her friends at Idle Hour and volunteering at the Hughestown Hose Company.
Leah was a constant in her family. She was there for every Christmas, Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and birthday celebration. A social butterfly at heart, Leah was always ready to stay with Aunt Helenanne for girls shopping trips and dinner and pool party season at her "favorite" cousins Shane and Jocelyn home. Family meant everything to Leah. She especially cherished the time spent watching her nieces and nephews, Emily, Elliot and Lincoln swim. Being their "Aunt Leah" was a title she wore with immense love, and she never missed an opportunity to enjoy their laughter and energy by the pool.
Leah's life was enriched by a 'village' of dedicated caregivers from Step By Step who became an extension of our family. We are especially grateful to Rosalie, Tammy, Zenobia, Melissa and so many others for their compassionate care, which allowed Leah to live a life full of comfort, and activity.
Leah's family would also like to thank the staff of 6th Floor and ICU at Geisinger CMC for their exceptional care, especially Joe, Aiden, Ashley, Alicia and Dominick.
Leah's legacy is one of resilience and a "language of the heart" that transcended words. She reminded us all to slow down, to appreciate and treasure simple things.
Leah is survived by her mother, Donna Jimmie Hopkins; siblings Frederick Tomlinson, Scranton, Louis III, Harrisburg, brother in law Josh Daniel and niece Emily Daniel, King of Prussia; her beloved Aunt Helenanne, Scranton; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of extended family and friends who will carry her memory forever.
She was preceded in death by her sister Renee Daniel, whom she affectionately called "Sissy". Leah missed Renee deeply every day, and her family finds great comfort in knowing they are now joyfully reunited. Maternal grandparents, Frederick and Dorothy Tomlinson and Paternal grandparents Louis Sr. and Juel Jimmie.
"A child is like a butterfly in the wind. Some can fly higher than others, but each one flies the best it can. Each one is special, each one is beautiful."
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 from 5PM-7PM, at Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home, 2908 Birney Avenue, Scranton, Pa.
In honor of Leah, memorial donations may be made to Hughestown Hose Company

I am so deeply sorry to see that Leah has passed. I became acquainted with Leah through her dear aunt Helenanne. We became Facebook friends and would periodically bump into each other when out and about. I always enjoyed our conversations. She truly was a special person, so sweet and full of life. My heartfelt condolences to all Leah’s family and friends.

To my best friend Leah, you will never be forgotten. You will always be in my heart. You are like a sister I never had even though we were not blood related. You were always there for me to cheer me up when I was sad. Always danced at the Deutsch institute parties. I will never forget you sore like you never sore before with those beautiful now angel wings that you have. You will be loved and missed by me and you will never be forgotten by me. I love you bestie/sister of mine. Words can't describe how much you really meant to me. I love you, Leah

Leah was a dear sweet friend and beloved member of our parish UNITY OF NEPA. That is how we met . Her warm and loving smile was such A joy to behold. Leah gave unconditional love to everyone that she ever came in contact with. Just being in the same room with her was very comforting. she was very happy to be around her friends with so much and even if she you’re just met you could tell by the sparkle in her eye, which would light up a room. To quote, one of her favorite TV shows and mine The Golden Girls “ Thank you for being a friend” Leah you will forever live on in all of the hearts of the people whose lives you’ve touched. Namaste’ Tom
