Lauren Miller Demeck, 41, of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, passed away peacefully at home on Monday following a long courageous battle to illnesses related to long haul Covid. She is the loving wife of Matthew Demeck, and they would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on May 21st.
Beautiful and loving daughter of Julia and Fred Miller of Scranton, she was a 2003 graduate of West Scranton High School, a member of St. Paul's Church and employed as an underwriter for the Maddock Insurance Agency in Clarks Summit. In her younger days, she was a good basketball player. Lauren had a great sense of humor and showed great passion. She loved reading and chatting with her mom and sister about the reality shows they shared. She also loved singing and dancing, and was fluent in several languages, but never talked about it because she didn't like to brag.
Lauren was not only beautiful inside and out, but she was very intelligent, caring and loyal to a fault. Her family meant the most to her. Loving, caring and kind, she was a hands on mother to Madison and MJ. One of her favorite sayings was "It's like candy canes on Christmas!"
Our sweet baby girl has gone into the arms of our Lord and her suffering has ended. She suffered and fought for the last six years, but unfortunately the illness won.
Also surviving are her daughter, Madison and boyfriend, Michael Snell; son, Matthew Jr. "MJ", both at home; sister, Elizabeth Miller, Scranton; brother, James Miller and wife, Emily, Okl; nephew, Calvin Miller; niece, Liv Miller; mother-in-law, Susan Shine; uncles, Michael Granville and wife, MaryEllen, Lake Ariel; and Stephen Granville, Scranton; cousin, Elysia Granville Zitzleman and husband, Allen, Scranton.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clare and Clarence Granville; paternal grandmother, Josephine Miller; uncles, David and Joseph Granville; and father-in-law, Michael Shine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11am in St. Paul's Church, Penn Ave, Scranton. Friends may call starting at 10am in the Church. Arrangements by McGoff-Hughes FH Inc, 1401 Capouse Ave, Scranton.
