Joseph Wayne Baker

Joseph Wayne Baker, 64, fought bravely against thyroid cancer, but passed on the evening of December 14, 2025. He was at home with his family who had handled his care themselves, none of them leaving his side through his battle. He was a very loving father and devoted husband to his adoring wife of 24 years and best friend, Valerie, and his pride and joy, four children, Krissie, Jennifer, Joseph, and Heather. He also has 6 young grandchildren he loved dearly, Destanie, Timothy, Reina, Louis, Gianna, and youngest Rocco. He was beloved by his family including his parents, Wayne Baker and Judy Jones, all of his siblings including, John, Maureen, Bobby, and Steven. Joseph was born in Scranton PA, grew up in West Scranton, and resided briefly for a time in Baltimore, MD. He then returned back to Scranton to build his life in his home area, where he remained with his family ever since working hard every day as a supervisor for UGI. In his downtime, he had a deep appreciation for nature whether he was fishing, hunting, or just on a stroll through the woods. Known most for his generosity, good humor, and optimistic disposition, he had a lasting impact on all who knew him. There isn't anything he wouldn't do to help someone in need, with a policy that goodness and charity should always be paid forward. Many friends join us in our remembrance of the life he lived. May his soul be at peace as he finally is able to rest, and may he forever remain in our hearts. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12:30pm in the Thomas J Hughes FH Inc, 1240 St. Ann St, Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call starting at 11am.
