Joseph M. Hensley

Joseph M. Hensley, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Born in Scranton, and raised in the Green Ridge section of town, and the son of Joseph W. Hensley and Ethel Miller Hensley, Joseph was affectionately known as “Joe Joe” to those who loved him. He attended St. Paul’s School and Church, and served honorably in the Army in Vietnam as an Sp5 and was stationed at Cam Rahn Bay. Joe worked at various jobs in Scranton as a presser, and particularly at J.F. Sportswear for many years, and also at Rennobs Warehouse which distributed books for the Harper Collins Publishing Company. Joe was a quiet and generous man who had a great sense of humor, and who loved listening to the music of the 60’s, and jazz, and had a special liking for the singer, Richie Havens. Joe loved sports, especially the Phillies, and New York Giants and Eagles football. Joe is survived by his brother, David, who lived with him, and his sisters, Pam Selemba and her husband Charles, of Kingsley, PA and Joe’s other sister, Mary, at the Oak Ridge Nursing Home in Taylor, PA., and a nephew and nieces. “Joe Joe” will be sadly missed by his brother and sisters. Friends may call Tuesday, from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home with a service at 1:00 pm. Intermit Cathedral Cemetery with full military honors.
