Joseph Hubert Leger

 

Joseph Hubert Leger, 86, passed into eternal life on June 11, 2026. Joseph was born on April 7, 1940, in Church Point, Louisiana to Roosevelt and Aline Leger. Joseph was a devoted Christian who was dedicated to church and family. Joseph met his wife Iris in 1962, and they were inseparable ever since. Joseph retired from Coca Cola distributors in 2005. Joseph then relocated from New Jersey to Scranton to be near his three daughters and grandchildren. As a young man he enjoyed playing football and baseball. In his later years his interests included- gardening, feeding the birds, taking long walks, reading the daily paper, and enjoying time with friends and family. He also enjoyed riding his bike, which he did well into his seventies. Joseph was known for his variety of succulent signature soups and gumbos. Surviving is his wife Iris M., eldest son Karoy and his wife Carmen Leger of Willingboro, New Jersey. His youngest son Brandon Leger of Scranton. Two daughters Kimberly and Iris A. Leger, both of Scranton. Siblings, Paul Leger of Houston, Texas and Martha Dougles of Denver, Colorado; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter Ethel and infant daughter Jacqueline Leger. His brother John Leger and two sisters Cybil and Mary. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 20th from 9 AM to 11 AM at McGoff Hughes Funeral Home 1401 Capouse Ave Scranton, PA 18509 with a service at 11 AM by Pastor Keyserray Leepler.
