John T. Garvey, 57, of Brookfield CT, died Thursday at home. His wife of twenty seven years is Jacqueline Cacciatore Garvey. Born in Scranton, son of the late William and Joan McCann Garvey, he was a 1979 graduate of Scranton Preparatory High School and received a bachelor degree in accounting from the University of Scranton. He was a member of St. Josephs Church in Brookfield, and worked as a consultant for ECG Collateral Services providing auditing and collateral consulting services to the commercial finance industry. An avid golfer, John also loved doing yard work and watching sports. He spent his free time listening to music and loved being the first one to know about the latest song. He was a loving husband, father and brother who will be deeply missed. Also surviving are two daughters, Brittany and Erin, at home; a brother, William Garvey and wife, Mary Jane, Garden City NY; a sister, Karen Petorak and husband, Atty John, Jermyn, a mother- in-law, Carol Cacciatore; niece and nephews, William and wife Julie, Thomas, Meghan and husband Kevin, and Corey.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1pm in St. Pauls Church, Penn Ave. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3-6pm in the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton.
