John Mulvenna

 

John Mulvenna, 66, of Scranton, passed away suddenly on January 28, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judith Gibbons Mulvenna. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Hazel and James Mulvenna. John had 6 sisters, Kathy, Marie, Karen, Dianne, Pattie and Janice and 3 brothers, James, Michael and Marty as well as 62 nieces and nephews. He also had a sister-in-law, Lori Kozlansky and a brother-in-law, George Kozlansky. He was a graduate of Buffalo State College where he excelled as a track star. Through his life, he was a top sales manager for Nabisco, General Mills and Starbucks. He changed professions and became a contractor working with his brother-in-law George. John loved golfing, anything outdoors and was the “mayor” of his neighborhood. Upon meeting John, you were instantly his friend. He was kind, loyal, generous and always positive. He will be missed beyond words by all who knew him. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 12th at 10:00am in St. Ann’s Basilica Church, 1233 St. Ann Street, Scranton, PA. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann Street, Scranton, PA.

John was my neighbor for 16 years and was a friend. If I needed anything he was there to help. He always said he enjoyed watching my son jumping in the pool for hours in the summer. You’ll be missed my friend and I always enjoyed catching up and getting the neighborhood gossip.
