John “Jack” Fuller, 76, of Belle Mead, NJ, passed away surrounded by his family on July 8, 2024.
Born in Scranton, PA, Jack was the son of the late Mary McGuire and John H. Fuller. He resided in Belle Mead, NJ, and Estes Park, CO.
Jack graduated from Scranton Preparatory School and earned a B.S. in Physics from St. Joseph’s University. He continued his education at Temple University, receiving an M.S. in Physics, and later completed an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester.
Jack’s career began at Cornell Aeronautics Lab in Whippany, NJ, where he worked on missile defense. After moving to Rochester, NY, he worked in management for Xerox Corporation. Later, he relocated to Belle Mead, NJ, where he worked in Operations Research for RCA in Princeton and then Merrill Lynch in Somerset. He went on to become the Director of Risk Architecture at Citigroup in New York City, where he worked for almost 25 years.
In retirement, Jack rekindled his passion for physics and astronomy, spending countless hours reading, attending lectures, and discussing these subjects with others. He was a member of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton and deeply appreciated interacting with those that shared his enthusiasm.
He especially enjoyed spending time in the mountains of Colorado where he was able to enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery and abundant wildlife. He was also an avid swimmer.
Jack had a profound commitment to learning and understanding the world. He shared his knowledge with everyone he met and had an enduring passion for engaging in long, thoughtful debates on a wide range of topics. He could spend hours vigorously discussing the nuances of any subject his audience was willing to entertain -- with dinner conversations sometimes lasting well into the night.
His sharp mind was matched only by his warm heart. He cherished relationships with friends and family and found joy in spending time with loved ones. As a devoted father, he took pride in his children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments. Jack was always there to support his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jack is survived by his wife Julia Yerabek Fuller of Belle Mead, NJ; his five children: Benjamin (Paula) of Concord, MA, Timothy (fiancé Laura) of Belle Mead, NJ, Jonathan of Estes Park, CO, Daniel of San Diego, CA, and Rebecca (Michael) Conley of New Hope, PA; his sister Kathleen Jones of Fairfax, VA; his five grandchildren: Tessa, Emily, and Kate Huston Fuller, Alex and Olivia Conley; and seven nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30AM on Monday, July 15 at St. Charles Borromeo, Skillman, NJ, preceded by a memorial gathering in the chapel at 10:00AM.
A second memorial gathering will take place at Thomas Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 Saint Ann’s St., Scranton, PA on Tuesday, July 16 from 10:30AM to 11:30AM followed by internment in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA.
