John "Duke" Marullo

It is with great sadness that the family of John “Duke” Marullo announce his sudden passing on Monday, May 10, 2021, at the age of 74. Duke was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all. Born in Scranton, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of St. Ann’s Basilica. A United States Army Veteran, Duke was a former Commander and life member of the VFW Post 25. He took great pride in his service to our country. Duke enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanics and sports. He also participated for years in the Scranton Pool League. He currently was employed by St. Ann’s Basilica as head of maintenance and previously worked for Trane Company until its closure. His granddaughters, Paige and Sarah, who he lovingly referred to as “the chicks,” were the absolute light of his life. Also surviving are two daughters, Denise and Nicole Marullo, both of Scranton; longtime companion, Colleen James, of Scranton; and countless cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth; and former spouse, Judy. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann’s St., Scranton. Friends may call from 4 to 5:45 p.m.

Very sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a good friend from Jr. High at South Scranton thru graduation at Scranton Tech. We kept up the friendship during the annual St. Ann's Novena. I always knew that John would be in the parking lot helping people to find a parking spot. He will surely be missed. Jim Strempek. Tech '64.
