JoAnn Hager

Honest and strong-willed JoAnn “Noni” Bridget Nole Hager, 70, of Clarks Summit, entered eternal rest Thursday, July 29, after a long illness. A firecracker until the end, JoAnn spent her final days entertaining her family with her wit and her own brand of humor. No one who ever met her could forget her because she was a true original. Her family is certain that JoAnn is giving Heaven a run for its money. Born May 2, 1951, to the late William and Antoinette Nole, she grew up in Olyphant. JoAnn loved to reminisce about her New York City days working at the Filmore East, where she met Janis Joplin and other famous musicians. Music was integral to JoAnn’s being, and she loved AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne and Janis Joplin. More than anything, she loved being a Noni. She always made her presence known, loudly cheering on her grandchildren at countless games, concerts and events. A devoted Catholic, she participated in daily mass and the St. Ann Novena every year. She was known for writing people’s intentions in parish prayer books and prayer chains. She is survived by her daughter, Roxann Graham and husband, Albert, of Waverly; three grandchildren, Emma, Molly and Jake Graham, of Waverly; former husband, William Waeldner, Waverly; cousins who were more like sisters, Josephine Coccetti, Eynon; and Lucy Clark, Jessup; Michelle Jenkins, Jessup; Lisa Judge, Dunmore; goddaughter, Ariann Hollister, Hollisterville; godson, Colton Savage; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friends who were with her until the end, Marey Walter, Scranton; and Cindy Adams, Moscow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Creo, and his wife, Mary Ann; and cousin, Frank Avason. JoAnn’s family would like to thank Sandra Palmer, her caregiver, the doctors and nurses of the Wright Center and Regional Hospital, the nurses of Allied Hospice, and Dr. Marianne Santioni. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of Mount Carmel, Dunmore, on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers and memorial contributions, JoAnn’s family asks that you pray a rosary, have a drink and turn up the music.

JOANN WAS A SPECIAL PERSON. I'M GLAD I WAS ABLE TO BE PART OF HER LIFE AND TO HAVE KNOWN HER. SHE ALMOST ALWAYS ENDED OUR PHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH EITHER "BE SAFE OUT THERE" OR TO TELL ME SHE LOVED ME. WE WILL TRULY MISS HER AT THE MEDICINE SHOPPE. GOD BLESS, JACK CELLERARI
