
James Joseph Barnauskas, 61, of Dickson City, passed away Saturday, March 8th, peacefully at home safe into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, spending his last days in company of family and friends. He suffered much in the last few years of life after becoming physically disabled but his heart still remained ever open to the needs of family and friends. Jim was the son of the late Julius and Helen Barnauskas Sr. of Dickson City. He was a graduate of Mid Valley High School, class of 1981 and the National Technical Institute of Diesel Repairs. He worked for Santanna Plastics Manufacturing of Scranton, Gentex Optical of Simpson and in cleaning maintenance throughout our area. He also worked part time in the family’s auto repair business, “Barney’s Used Cars” here in Bell Mountain, Dickson City. Jim, though never married, was a loving son, brother to six siblings, nieces, nephews and all his friends.
Jim is survived by a brother Michael Barnauskas at home, brother Richard Barnauskas and wife Donna, Hatfield, PA, sister-in-law Carol Barnauskas, Dickson City, his godson and caregiver, Garry Bartosch and wife Savanna and their three daughters living here at our home in Dickson City, friend Luke Gana of Scranton, niece and nephews and numerous friends all close to his heart. Preceding him in death were a brother Julius Barnauskas Jr., sister Marie Barnauskas, sister Eileen Barnauskas and sister Karen Slatchka Fuller.
Funeral arrangements by the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann’s Street, Scranton, PA with no viewing and Mass of Christian burial on Friday, March 14 at 9:30 at Cathedral of St. Peter, 315 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton. Interment Cathedral Cemetery, Oram Street, Scranton.
