James Holman III

James Holman III, 53, of Scranton, died Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late James and Eileen Rosato Holman. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School and a member of St. Ann’s Basilica. Following high school, Jimmy attended The Arc. He had a true love for music and was a familiar face at Kilcoyne’s, where he enjoyed DJing alongside his Uncle Tony. He loved playing his records, his mouse Leroy, watching the polkas and, most of all, spending time with his family. He shared a special bond with his godmother, Bev Bartalotta, and his cousin, Sally McHugh. Jimmy was truly a gift to his family and to everyone fortunate enough to know him. He shared a particularly special bond with his brother, Jeff, whose love and connection with Jimmy remained an important part of his life. Jimmy’s love of music and the special place he held in the hearts of those around him will never be forgotten. In keeping with his giving spirit, Jimmy continued to help others through the gift of organ donation, leaving a lasting legacy of generosity and love. For the past two years, Jimmy resided at St. Mary’s Villa following a stroke. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his cousin, Teri Huester, the nurses and staff who cared for Jimmy with such kindness and compassion. Surviving are his brother, Jeff Holman, and his wife, Susan, of Scranton; his niece, Anna; his nephews, Adam and Jake; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Basilica. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann’s Street, Scranton.
