
James D. Connor, 75, of Scranton, died Friday at home. His wife of 55 years is Carol Golembeski Connor.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Gerald and Madeline Connor, he was class of 1965 at Taylor Moosic High School and graduated from the University of Scranton. James served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 as a fuel specialist in Vietnam, and was awarded the Air Force Commadant Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Prior to retirement, he worked for 40 years at the United States Postal Service as manager of the Scranton Post Office and Postmaster of Wilkes-Barre.
A true family man, James found the greatest joy being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and coaching youth baseball and basketball. He and his wife loved to spend their winters in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Also surviving are three children, JoAnne Novack, Moscow; James Connor and wife, Michele, Moscow; and Lisa Dieter and husband, Patrick, Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, Jamie Gouldsbury and wife, Ashley; Patrick, Nathan, Madeline and Brayden Dieter, and Lily, Kacy and Luke Connor; five great-granddaughters, Emma, Ava, Maya, Lyla and Kira Gouldsbury; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Connor; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Philip and Gerald Connor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Peter and Paul Church. Interment with military honors, St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc, 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton.
