James A. Langan

 

James Andrew Langan Dec. 2, 2020 James A. Langan, Tobyhanna, son of Stella Langan and the late Edward Langan of Scranton, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at home. Jim was born on July 7, 1960 in Scranton. He was a patriot who was a member of the Air Force for 21 years and was distinctly proud of his service to his country. He was last attached to Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico and retired at the rank of master sergeant. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he joined the Air Force in 1980 and was stationed in Texas, New Jersey, Delaware, Germany and New Mexico. He lived in Albuquerque until retirement and returned home to Northeastern Pennsylvania soon after. Jim was polished in his dress, liked the finer things in life and respected his country and other veterans. He had a quirky personality, cherished his privacy and faced pain and struggles in his life. He was loved by his family and he always expressed his love for them. Beside his mother, he is survived by his children, Amanda Langan and partner, Michael Baldonado, Fort Wayne, Indiana; Stephanie Wheelis and husband Jeremy, Norwich, Connecticut; James Langan and wife, Jena, St. Mary’s, Georgia; four grandchildren, Aiden and Mason Langan and Hayley and Logan Wheelis; two sisters, Ann Christine Fanning and husband Bernard, Clarks Summit and Mary Allison Welling and husband David, Dillsburg; four brothers, Edward William III and wife Claire, South Korea; Michael John; Mark Alexander and wife Joan, Scranton and Edward Andrew, Oneida, New York. He is also survived by his dear friend, Robert Jazikoff Jr., Cresco, who was there for him over the past 12 years and took responsibility for his emotional and physical care during his last few illnesses. Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Lucas Robert Wheelis, who was born and died on March 25, 2013, his father, Edward William Langan Jr., on Oct. 2, 2013 and four infant sisters. Jim was a supporter of wounded warriors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, support.woundedwarriorproject.org The family will receive relatives and friends at the Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home, in Minooka, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 10. A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 11 at Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, Minooka at 10 a.m.
