Helen C. Egan, 98, of Scranton, died Thursday at St. Marys VillaBorn in Scranton, daughter of the late Michael and Anna Feeney Comerford,she was a member of St. Pauls Church, and a graduate of Marywood Seminaryand Trinity College, where she was very involved with the AlumniAssociation. She was a teacher in the Scranton School District for thirtyfive years and a member of the Century Club. Helen was an avid reader andenjoyed volunteering at St. Clares School as a tutor and the Hospice ofPennsylvania.Surviving are two sons, John Egan and wife Joan, Lake Ariel; Dr. MichaelEgan and wife Sandra, Lincoln City, Or; a daugther in law, Niza Egan, NewYork; seven grandchildren, Sean, Brendan, Michael, Caitlin, and JenniferEgan, Dr. Mindy Hawkins and husband Aaron, and Kelly Murray and husbandTodd; two great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousinsShe was preceded in death by a son, George Egan; three brothers, Thomas,Michael, and William Comerford; and two sisters, Margaret OHara and JoanThompsonThe funeral will be Monday at 9:15am from the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home,Inc 1401 Capouse Ave, Scranton Pa 18504 with Mass of Christian burial at9:30 in St. Pauls Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may callSunday 4-7pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Scranton PublicLibrary, 500 Vine St, Scranton Pa 18509.
