
After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Gloria Makowski passed away at her home on Sunday morning, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She had been receiving in-home care from her family for the past two years. Born in Scranton on February 5, 1941, she was the youngest of six children. She was predeceased by her dear husband of 60 years, Raymond C. Makowski. She was the daughter of the late Parcel and Lena Wheeler. She attended West Scranton High School. She was an avid seamstress, working at Sunny Styles Dress Factory for over 25 years. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Church, serving as the President of the ANS Women's Society for several years. She was a warmhearted mother and wife; she also worked as an In-home Caregiver in her youth and later gave excellent care to her husband She is survived by Children: Raymond Jr, and his wife Patricia, Scranton; Joanne Millan, Scranton; Christine Patrick, Newton; and Wanda Petrillo, Scranton. Her eight grandchildren include Troy, Felicia, Rachel, Hannah, Shelby, Jessica, Kylie, and Jordan, and cherished great-granddaughter, Chloe. She was especially close to niece, Donna Mukherji. She was preceded in death by her brothers Parcel, John, Paul, Fred, and sister Delores. She was also predeceased by her late nephew, Alan Wheeler, and beloved son-in-law Jerry Patrick. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, who provided immense support to not only Gloria, but the family as well. The funeral will be held at noon on December 20, 2025, at Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home located at 1240 St Ann St. in Scranton. Friends may call starting at 10am.
