Gerald O'Hearn, 71, of Santa Fe, N.M., and formerly of Scranton, died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital in Sante Fe. His wife is Susan O'Hearn.
Born Feb. 7, 1952, in Scranton, son of the late Jeremiah and Jane O'Hearn, he attended St. Ann's School, graduated from West Scranton High School, attended Keystone College and graduated from Kutztown University in 1976. Gerry lived in Connecticut for 12 years and worked at the Art Gallery in Manhattan, New York City. Eventually he and his wife relocated to Lamy, N.M. and spent his remaining days living and working there. An artist and illustrator until relocating, Gerry was self-employed as an architectural landscaper on many homes in the Santa Fe area, including the Forrest Fenn Ranch.
Also surviving are his brothers, Dennis; William and wife, Kim; and Brian and wife, Elaine; sister, Kathy Dennebaum and husband, Mark; niece, Melissa Cianci; nephews, Mark Dennebaum, and Sean and William O'Hearn; great-nephew, Colton Cianci; sister-in-law, Carol Caldwell; and brother-in-law, David Caldwell.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Betty Caldwell; and brother-in-law, Richard Caldwell Jr.
A blessing service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton. Friends may call starting at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your local SPCA.

Gerry,Was my younger brother and we were two years apart but we were also apart in life style. I was a soldier and Gerry was and artist, He created beauty and I was not very good at that. He was a gentle soul and I loved him!
