Eve T. Bielavitz, 93, a resident of the Minooka section of Scranton, joined her husband Walter and daughter Pat in eternal rest on June 11, 2026.
Born and raised in Dupont, Eve was the daughter of the late Stanley Zurewski and Mary (Magnuszewski) Zurewski. She is a graduate of Dupont High, Class of 1949.
Eve worked in the garment industry for many years and was also employed by Supermarket Services and retired from Gertrude Hawks.
After marrying Walter, they moved to Scranton and resided there for 63 blissful years, until Walter’s passing on August 17, 2020.
The passing of their beloved daughter, Pat Czyzyk On May 11, 2023, was devastating for Eve, but she managed to overcome the grief, living independently at home for 3.5 more years, before residing in Linwood Nursing home, where she made new friends with staff and residents.
Eve was a wonderful person who made people laugh and feel at home, no matter where she went.
Besides her parents, Walter and Pat, Eve was preceded in death by her son-in-law Dave Cheplick, brother Stanley Zurewski, his wife Annette and niece Annette Norris.
Surviving is her beloved grandson David Cheplick, wife Leah, and great grandson Jack, who she adored, son-in-law Frank Czyzyk and God child and niece, Mary Griffin (Nelson).
With the love of David, Leah, Jack, and Mary (and George), Eve was able to live a happy life, teaching us about surviving heart ship, loving everyone, and playing a mean game of Rummy.
The family would like to thank her aids, whom she considered family, for getting her through the best and worst of times and the staff of Linwwod Nursing Home for their support and love through the last four months.
Funeral arrangements will be Thursday, June 18th, with a viewing from 9:00am to 9:45am at Divine Mercy Parrish, Davis Street, Scranton PA, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am to be celebrated by Rev. Paul McDonnell O.S.J. Pastor. Inurnment Saint Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.
