Esther Marianelli Casella Brown

 

Esther Marianelli Casella Brown, Scranton, passed away Saturday, July 27 at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a three-year long battle with cancer with her children at her side. Born and raised in Old Forge, March 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Mary Skapyak Marianelli. She was a member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish and a graduate of Old Forge High School. She worked at a very young age at Brooks Manufacturing, Old Forge and Grey Hound Bus Lines, Scranton. She loved everyone and was well known as “mom” to everyone. A very religious woman who loved all animals and her favorite pastime was going shopping. Surviving are her four children, Patrick, Lisa, Erich and Denise, all of Scranton; two brothers, Arnold and Robert Marianelli; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie and Jeannie. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Louis Adamo and Dr. Christopher Peters for all the years of caring for mom. She will be deeply missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Ann’s Basilica on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. Inurnment, private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann’s St., Scranton, PA 18504.
