Elizabeth "Tina" Jean Krushinski Henderson

Elizabeth Jean Krushinski Henderson, lovingly known to nearly everyone as “Tina,” passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family she spent her entire life protecting, encouraging, and standing beside like a lighthouse in rough water. Born on April 28, 1951, Tina lived a hardworking life rooted in Northeast Pennsylvania where she became known for her strength, loyalty, humor, and fierce devotion to family. Throughout the years, she worked at many places including Maid Rite Steak Company, KFC, Gerrity’s as a deli clerk, a bingo hall, Northeast Pennsylvania Auto Auction, and a lace factory. No matter the job, Tina carried herself with grit and heart. But above all titles and paychecks, the role she treasured most was being a mother and grandmother. She was endlessly proud of her daughter, Nicole Florence Tuffy, who returned to school and followed her dream of becoming a nurse. Tina admired Nicole’s determination so she would babysit Nicole’s two cats Gracie and Lydia and celebrated every accomplishment she achieved alongside her husband, Thomas Tuffy. Tom stood by his family and was only a phone call or bang on the wall away from getting Tina whatever she wanted, no questions asked and was there for his two nephews Nate and Gio like only a good uncle would. She was equally proud of her son, Thomas Henderson, a United States Marine who served deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and places he probably never spoke much about. Thomas often joked that “the Marine Corps never issued him a wife,” but sixteen years later, he married the love of his life, Brittany Ann Yatsko Henderson. Tina and Brittany built a beautiful bond over those 16 years. They spent countless one-on-one moments talking about everything under the sun: Brittany’s grandmother Helen, her mother, whatever her father happened to be cooking, or even Steve Harvey’s flashy suits. That bond became unbreakable. Tina came to deeply love Brittany and recognized her as a true asset to the Henderson family. Tina absolutely adored her grandsons, Nathan, 15, and Giovanni, 13, who lovingly knew her as “TinaBina.” She also “loved” two dogs that she was famously terrified of: Echo and Venom. Tom’s two dogs, of course. Thomas never missed an opportunity to tease her with them, turning fear into laughter the way families somehow always do. 🕊️🐾 After learning she had lung cancer, much like her late husband, Tina still refused to let the disease define her. She continued making memories with her family, finally making it to the casino with her daughter, still wandering flea markets like she once did with Clarence, and still giving and taking playful “butt bustings” with the people she loved most. Tina would always know what was going on (Sis was retiring and definitely knew what was for dinner at the Sottiles on Friday night because she always got a special bowl of fish) which she bragged about to her grandkids. GREAT FRIENDS are not what they used to be but once again she was blessed to have amazing neighbors who always offered a lending hand.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence J. Henderson (August 23, 1952 – September 26, 2025), as well as her sisters: Barbara & Ann Marie, Brothers: Joe, Eddie & Stanley.
Tina and Clarence were rarely far apart through life’s storms. Even when life turned upside down and times became difficult, they remained side by side, and their family remained beside them. Tina was the kind of mother who stood up for her children whether they were right or wrong, no questions asked. Her love was fierce, stubborn, unconditional, and impossible to miss. She leaves behind a family stitched together by her strength, her laughter, and the countless ordinary moments that now shine like gold coins at the bottom of memory’s wishing well. Though her chair may now sit empty, the stories, laughter, arguments, love, and loyalty she gave this world will continue echoing through generations of the Henderson family. She will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at noon in the Thomas J Hughes FH Inc, 1240 St. Ann St., Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call starting at 10am.
