Eleanor Winger Henry

 

Eleanor Winger Henry, 95, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away at the Mountain View Care Center on March 14. She was the daughter of the late John and Irene Duffy Winger, and the widow of Paul A. Henry, to whom she was married for more than 52 years. A graduate of Central High School and Lackawanna College, Eleanor retired from the Scranton School District. She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Ann R. Henry, Flemington, N.J.; and Janet Henry Flynn (Bill), of Annapolis, Md.; sister-in-law, Catherine Winger, of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, William Flynn (Kristy), New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; Catherine Flynn (Joseph Dellario), Plymouth, Pa.; and Patrick Flynn (Regina), Annapolis, Md.; great-grandsons, James and Declan Flynn, JR Dellario; and great-granddaughter, Aiden Flynn; nephews, Jack, Frank and Jim Winger, of Tucson, Ariz.; great-nephews, Matt, Joseph, JD and James Winger; and great-niece, Jeanmarie Winger Biemer. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Theresa Henry, son-in-law, Ted Wulko; brothers, John and Harold Winger; and sister, Dorothy Winger Kelly; nephews, Christopher and Paul Winger; and great-nephew, Frankie Winger. Dearly beloved by her family and friends, Eleanor enjoyed art and calligraphy classes and travel, especially to Ireland. She will be remembered as always willing to help others, welcoming people to her home and large family gatherings. Friends may call March 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Church. 1217 Prospect Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Interment will be private by the family at a later date. Henry Memorial Scholarship Fund at Marywood University, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA, 18509; or to a charity of your choice.
